My name is Lee S. Crane. Currently a buyer with the U.S. Postal Service, I have been working in sourcing and supply chain management for the past ten years. I have run over 35 eRAs, multi-attribute auctions, and combinatorial optimization events across many spend categories from trash & recycling removal to rubber bands to bulk chemicals, and on multiple full-and-self service platforms from FreeMarkets to CombineNet.
I am a Graduate of Quinnipiac University School of Law. I received a B.A. in Economics from George Mason University and a M.B.A. from the University of New Haven. I have been certified as a purchasing manager (C.P.M.) by the Institute for Supply Management, and certified in production & inventory control (CPIM) by the American Production and Inventory Control Society.
The desire to create the Tool began when I realized that my companies, and some of my managers, were going overboard chasing the eRA craze. Some have gone as far as to require written permission for ANY requirement to not be run through an auction. This has led to some terrible results that hurt the organization's bottom line and the buyers' reputations with their partners. The Tool is my small contribution to try and help others avoid making the same mistakes I have.
If you would like to discuss reverse auctions, or how the Tool may be customized to precisely meet the needs of your organization - please email me or call me at 203.671.5270.
